Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

by Matheus Yuhlung

Before answering that, it is essential to understand who is good. Is man good? Certainly not; as it is written for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.[i] Why compare the question of man being good with the glory of God? Because God alone is good.[ii]

But we? We are sinners. So under the grace of God; the question should rather be – why do good things happen to bad people.

If God had to judge us for the sins that we have committed; we’d be living through the worst – but we aren’t. He had found us in our sins and loved us as we are – lost, confused and miserable. And in His love He had not only forgiven our sins but chose not to even remember them anymore.[iii]

Doubt at the times of sufferings can be fatal. When you are going through the worst of times and the tempter tempts you to doubt God’s loving grace – focus on His blessings and His goodness through which we are all saved.
