A Meditation: On Exodus 4:17 // Take In Your Hand This Staff //

by Matheus Yuhlung

“And take in your hand this staff, with which you shall do the signs” – Exodus 4:17

One very popular figure of speech that has been used repeatedly in the Bible is that of walking i.e. walking with God. In the earlier days, the staff used to be of great essence, an aid. This staff that God hands Moses – not only helped him overcome his reluctance and self pity regarding his lack of eloquence but made all promises of God into an ultimate YES! in his life.

In a figurative sense, I believe the word of God is no less an example of a staff for modern day servants of God. And while we have this opportunity to breath in the presence of His Holy Ghost – why not grasp that staff as firm as possible and go do miracles for the glory of God?

Don’t you think the promises that stood open for grasp then are also open for us? God is the same yesterday, today and forever; then so does His promises too. Let us walk with God while the invitation is still open. Let us grasp that staff; witness God’s miracle and receive every single bit of that divine promises that has been made into an ultimate Yes for us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
