A Meditation: On Psalm 116:8-9 // You’ve Been Saved For Good Works //
by Matheus Yuhlung
“For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living” – Psalm 116:8-9
We were not saved so that we could go on living like we used to live. It is only the ones who have the deepest conviction of their sinfulness who can truly acknowledge God’s saving grace. And we should sure hope that we are amongst this lot of people.
Contemplate on the fact that we were not send here to pursue our personal ambitions we were send here with a Godly purpose. Continual living like a sinner (like you once were) mocks Christ’s sacrifices.
Abandon everything that once used to describe who you were. Let yourself be identified with Christ and Christ alone; as nothing else matters. Even a dog would hesitate to lick the same foot twice which had kicked him once then why should you reminiscent, romanticized or linger on to a life that gave you nothing but tears? Press on dear brethren; you were saved for good works. Do not let anybody or anything make you believe differently.
